The plan is designed to take the financial and emotional pressure away from your next of kin at the time of the funeral and give you peace of mind.

When is it right to consider a funeral plan?

  • Retirement/Annuity Purchase
  • Inheritance Tax Planning
  • Saving and Investing
  • Writing a Will
  • Assessments for Council Housing or Care
  • Life Cover

Eligibility for the Pre-Paid Funeral Plan

You are guaranteed acceptance if you are aged over 50 at the starting date. There is no upper age limit and no medical questions.

Significant Features and Benefits (Financial)

Guaranteed Services – The plan guarantees to cover the full cost of the cremation funeral services as outlined in the Plan Schedule.

Pay at Today's Prices – The plan fixes funeral costs at today's prices, which you can bring significant savings as funeral costs continue to rise.

Flexible Payment – You can make a single one-off payment or spread the cost over 12 or 60 monthly payments, by Direct Debit.

Fixed Price – Once the plan has been paid for, neither you nor your next of kin will ever have to pay for anything else towards the services covered.

Secure – Plan holders' money is held in a secure Trust Fund, which is independent of the Plan Provider.

Significant Features and Benefits (Other)

One of the UK's Leading Funeral Service Provider - Dignity – who will ensure the funeral is carried out by one of 750 approved funeral directors nationwide.

One Phone Call – When the funeral is needed, a single phone call to Dignity is all that is needed for your next of kin to put the plan in motion. A trusted and approved funeral director will provide support and guidance to your next of kin to ensure that the funeral takes place as you would have wished.

Direct Payment – The funds needed to pay for the funeral will be paid directly to the funeral director meaning no additional paper work or complex claim is required at the time.

Special Requests – The plan includes the necessary arrangements for a cremation funeral. You can add special requests into the plan at any time (for example flowers, a favourite hymn, specific piece of music or an extra limousine). Any costs incurred would have to be paid at the time of the funeral, as they are not covered by the price guarantee.

Significant Exclusions and Limitations

You have 28 days from the date the Plan Provider send you your agreement to cancel the plan. Cancellations after that time are subject to a £395 cancellation fee.

If a burial is your preferred option, the third party costs outlined in the plan details would not be covered by the plan. However, all of the funeral director's services are included and guaranteed to be provided. There would also be a contribution (which will rise in line with RPI inflation) towards burial costs such as any services provided by third parties, the cost of the plot etc. If the burial costs are more than this amount, the difference would need to be paid for at the time. Unfortunately, the Plan Provider is unable to guarantee to fully cover the costs of a burial funeral because prices may vary from region to region. If you would prefer a burial funeral please call Dignity on 0800 171 2742 and speak to one of their friendly UK-based Customer Service Team.

If the plan is paid for by instalments and you pass away before the instalments are complete your next of kin would need to pay the outstanding balance at the time of the funeral.

There is an extra charge for paying by instalments over more than 12 months. Your Application Form will detail the total amount payable.

If you pass away while away from home, your plan includes transport (up to 20 miles, excluding ferry and air fares) to the funeral director's premises. Any additional miles will be chargeable at the time. A plan may be purchased by someone who is resident outside of mainland Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Isle of Man and the Isle of Wight, but the cost of repatriation is not covered by the plan.

Currently, Value Added Tax (VAT) is not charged on funeral services. However, if as a result of revised legislation, VAT is charged on a funeral service or any part of it, the VAT will be payable by your personal representative or the person who organizes your funeral.

There will be an additional charge for conducting the burial, cremation or funeral service on a weekend or public holiday.
